We are looking for a staff accountant to join our team for day-to-day accounting activities. The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where creative thinking, problem solving, analysis, efficiency, and initiative are required. Pay: $40,000-$60,000 DOE
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn month-end close process and assist staff and management throughout close process
- Prepare general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare detailed account reconciliations by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system, external reports, and various corporate departments
- Assist with documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and standard operating procedures
- Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheets and other ad hoc reports as needed
- Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Assist Management with system implementations and testing
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and documentation
- Liaison with Finance Department personnel and other teammates as necessary
- All other duties as requested
Job Requirements
Education, Essential Training / Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years’ experience in accounting field, preferably in a Corporate Accounting setting.
- At least 1 year of demonstrated automated general ledger accounting experience.
- At least 1 year of intermediate level experience with spreadsheet applications.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of SFAS rules
- Knowledge of Sage 500 desirable
- Intermediate proficiency in applications of word processing, accounting, and spreadsheet software
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

- Demonstrate initiative in understanding process flows and internal controls
